Lou Lyons is the co-founder and lead guitarist of the Trinidad and Tobago NeoFolk/Urban Contemporary band, Freetown Collective. The band’s Musical Director, vocalist, and music producer is also a credited Film Score Composer with credits for working on film projects directed by the Trinidad born Hollywood based Film Director, Damian Marcano.
These film credits include Chee$e, Giants, Heart of a Monster, and The Fire Queen. He is also credited for the Sound Design for Freetown’s cinematic music video for Born In Darkness – the title track from the band’s debut album. Producing under the moniker ‘Cheah Meng’ Lyons and Muhammad Muwakil – Freetown’s Lead Singer and songwriter, are seeking to craft their own sonic identity under the sub-genre “New Calypso” as evidenced in their 2020 EP, YAGO.
