Burrokeet
BURROKEET, a colloquialism for the Spanish word Burroquito meaning “little donkey”. The animal is constructed to give the illusion that the masquerader is riding a small donkey. Reflecting the legacy of Trinidad as a Spanish colony, the masquerader or “rider” often wears a satin shirt, matador hat, or sombrero and carries instruments such as a cuatro, guitars, or shac-shacs.
